Applications

Rail Train/Locomotive
EVERGREEN provides high-quality castings for high-speed rail, metro, and heavy-duty freight trains, including critical structural components for bogies,impact-resistant brake system housings, and fatigue-resistant connection components. These components are manufactured using high-strength ductile iron (e.g., QT500-7) or special alloy steels, and undergo precise casting and heat treatment optimization to ensure dimensional stability and safe service life even under prolonged vibration and extreme temperature fluctuations. This contributes to the efficient and safe operation of rail transportation systems.

Construction Equipments
For the harsh operating conditions of heavy-duty equipment such as excavators and cranes, we cast wear-resistant and high-pressure core components—including hydraulic valve blocks, bucket tooth seats, and rotary bearing bases—using high-manganese steel (ZGMn13) or chromium-molybdenum alloy steel (such as 42CrMo). Combined with a coated sand casting process, this enhances surface hardness and impact resistance, significantly extending the service life of equipment in sand, gravel, and slag environments while reducing maintenance costs for our customers.

Agriculture Equipments
We conduct in-depth research into the lightweight and durability requirements of agricultural machinery such as tractors and harvesters, manufacturing complex crankshaft housings, transmission housings, and plowing tool brackets. By utilizing high-strength aluminum alloys (A380) or boron steel (27MnCrB5-2), we achieve a 30% reduction in component weight while controlling porosity through low-pressure casting. Additionally, we apply zinc-nickel alloy coatings to enhance corrosion resistance, ensuring reliable and efficient operation of agricultural machinery in humid and dusty environments.

Understanding Metal Casting
What is Metal Casting
In simple terms, metal casting is the process of pouring molten liquid metal into a pre-made mould cavity, allowing it to cool and solidify, and then obtaining a solid metal part (casting) that is identical to the shape of the mold. Metal casting is a metal forming technology that can be used to manufacture parts with complex shapes that are difficult to produce using other manufacturing methods. Furthermore, metal casting is relatively inexpensive but highly efficient.
The Core Value of Metal Casting
- Design flexibility: Cast any shape to achieve complex internal cavities, thin-walled structures, and precise details.
- Material diversity: Use a wide range of metals and alloys, including iron (gray iron, ductile iron, malleable cast iron), steel (carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel), aluminum, copper, zinc, magnesium, and more, to meet various performance requirements (strength, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity).
- Cost-effectiveness: For medium to large-scale production, the cost per casting is highly competitive. Mould costs can be spread across a large number of products.
- Production of large/heavy parts: The most economical and efficient method for manufacturing large, heavy structural components (such as machine tool bases, engine blocks, valve housings).
- Integrality: Cast parts are formed as a single piece, eliminating stress concentrations and weak points that may arise from welding or assembly.
- Adjustable material properties: By selecting different alloy compositions and heat treatment processes, the mechanical and physical properties of castings can be precisely controlled.
Common Casting Processes
Sand casting:
- Principle: First, sand is used to make moulds for the parts. Sand casting moulds can be divided into outer moulds (the external shape of the casting) and core boxes (the shape of the casting cavity). These moulds are disposable. Then, liquid metal is poured into the moulds, and after cooling, the moulds are destroyed to obtain the castings. Currently, sand casting is the most widely used and highly adaptable casting method.
- Advantages: Sand casting is the least expensive moulding method in all types of casting, but it can produce oversized parts and offers a wide range of material options, making it ideal for small batch production.
- Disadvantages: Since the molds are made of sand, the surface finish and dimensional accuracy of parts cast using sand casting are relatively low, and secondary processing is generally required.
Precision Casting(Investment casting/Lost Foam Casting):
- Principle: First, use a malleable material (such as wax) to create the shape of the part (wax mould). Then, cover the surface of the wax mould with multiple layers of refractory material to form a shell. Next, melt the wax mould inside the shell, leaving behind the precise shape of the part. Finally, pour molten metal into the shell.
- Advantages: Precision casting produces parts with high dimensional accuracy and smooth surfaces, enabling the casting of complex, thin-walled components. Additionally, castings require minimal secondary processing, making them ideal for difficult-to-machine materials such as stainless steel and alloy steel.
- Disadvantages: The mould cost of investment casting is relatively high, and the process cycle is also relatively long. It is suitable for manufacturing small and medium-sized, high-precision complex parts.
Die Casting:
- Principle: Die casting uses reusable metal moulds and high pressure to rapidly inject molten alloy (aluminum alloy, zinc alloy, magnesium alloy) into the mould. Most die-casting moulds have internal cooling channels, enabling the die-casting machine to operate continuously.
- Advantages: Die casting is extremely efficient, with high precision and surface quality, and the structure of the castings is very dense.
- Disadvantages: The cost of die casting molds is arguably the highest among all casting methods. The materials suitable for die casting are also limited (mainly aluminum, magnesium, zinc, and copper), and the dimensions of parts are constrained by the mold, making it suitable only for the mass production of small to medium-sized parts.
